A charming little fishing village, Agios Stefanos is filled with authentic Greek character surrounded by a rugged backdrop of hills just ripe for exploring. There is a wonderful view of Albania that can be seen from the harbour at Agios Stefanos, in fact it is so close that even the houses can be seen across the water. Whilst soaking in the view, try the Corfu Special cocktail on the waterfront bar – a mix of Bacardi, Grand Marnier, orange and lemon juice and grenadine. Also on the harbour, motorboats can be hired for the day (though not recommended after a Corfu Special) to explore the scenic surrounding area. The hillside wraps itself around this pretty undeveloped village dotted with beautiful stone villas, much sought after in the height of the season, with a few restaurants in the village catering for visitors. A half hours walk from the coastguard station above Agios Stefanos is the long stretch of shingle beach at Avlaki, a wind-surfers paradise, and nearby is Kerasia, thought to be the most attractive resort on this stretch of the coast. Guide to Agios Stefanos holidays
Agios Stefanos is a relatively quiet relaxed and simple holiday resort 30 miles from Corfu town on the NW tip of the islan, with fine views of the Ionian islands of the Ionian sea and possessing an outstanding bay and extensive sandy beach. Agios Stefanos is proved popular with families and British visitors not least for this resort’s magnificent beaches and setting. The original old village of Agios Stefanos, once home to both fisherman and farmers, is grouped around the church and the old harbour and has a couple of older tavernas. The new Greek-styled resort and port provide a few shops, bars, and a good amount of tavernas and entertainment. Some water sports are available. The airport is also only a 30-mile trip.
Winding country roads lead down to Agios Stefanos bay and its long golden beach. The rural backdrop invites a leisurely walk and a holiday in Agios Stefanos could easily include excursions to colourful Sidari and Corfu town and boat trips and longer cruises can be made to nearby islands like Kefalonia and Paxos.
Paleokastritsa, renowned for its natural beauty is another nearby attraction within reach.
With a backdrop of gentle hills, olive groves and an unspoilt rural valley, Agios Stefanos beach is over a mile long and offers both shallow, flashing blue water, safe for children and a broad stretch of golden soft sand.
