About Kalami Corfu

This stunning bay situated on the north east coast of Corfu was once the home of the famous writer Lawrence Durrell and was the inspiration for many of his books, his house remains today but is now used as a taverna. Kalami is a tranquil oasis and a place to head for to relax and unwind, although a lot of visitors to the island head here for a day trip. Set against a backdrop of Eucalyptus, palm and cypress trees, the bay is made up of a swathe of sand and shingle reaching out to the bluest of blue sea and is still a working fishing village. Walkers will love Kalami as there are many paths that wind up through lush countryside, olive, lemon and orange trees, this is really Corfu at its best.
There are handful of tavernas and just a few shops selling the necessities and the best part is there are only sunbeds and pedaloes for hire on the beach so no noisy interruptions to the peace and tranquillity that pervades. The odd cuckoo can be heard and the rhythmical chanting of the cicadas………..Bliss
